Our design process:
Stage I: Preliminary design
Early in the process, information is gathered that will formulate the basis of the planning.
Using our specialized knowledge of interior design we formulate a design with consideration
for function, aesthetics, interior construction methods, costs, building systems/components,
building codes, equipment, materials and furnishings. Once a preliminary plan has been
approved by the client, we work with a general contractor to obtain a preliminary
construction estimate.
Stage II: Design development
Once the budget estimate and preliminary plans have been approved, the project moves into
the development stage where specific details are developed. The decisions made by the client
and Four Squares Design Group are formalized and converted into a legal document known as
the working drawings. These drawings are used for tendering, building permit application and
construction.
Stage III: Tender period
During the tendering or bidding phase, Four Squares Design Group oversees the process by
preparing and distributing the tender documents, clarifying information, closing the tenders
and providing a tender analysis. The client selects the general contractor and enters into a
contract directly with the general contractor.
Stage IV: Contract administration and construction
During the construction, Four Squares Design Group attends site meetings to ensure that the
design intent is being maintained, that good construction practices are being used and
provides paperwork that will support the client's records of the project.
